For some reason, my Pages is defaulted to British English, and I can't find any option to change this. Every time I write the word "favorite" it becomes underlined. And yes, my iPad itself is set to American English.
It also does not understand other languages. I switched to the Spanish keyboard and began typing; it did not recognize Spanish words, presumably because it was still on the British English dictionary. Not too annoying, since I can turn it off, but I would like it to recognize Spanish when I'm typing my essay. Actually, Word on my MacBook also has issues with languages, but I know that's just a coincidence.
Are other people having this issue?
Also, are other people also confused on where the spell checker is enabled and where it is not? It appears in some apps like Twitterrific and I believe Notes, but also absent on Safari. Update: never mind, it seems to appear in Safari, too, but sometimes doesn't unless you tap on the word. Also, Spanish spell check works outside of Pages, so it does seem to affect only Pages. I haven't tried any of the other iWork applications, btw, so I can't comment on if the issue is present there as well.
Update again: uhh, Pages also seems to measure in centimeters rather than inches and defaults to A4 paper instead of Letter; again, I see no options to change this. Considering that I live in Asia though, the A4 thing is good (and I'm indifferent toward inches and cm, so whatevs), but I can see this being a really big issue for Americans...
