I watched the user guide to Pages and I found one thing that was missing...export to Word format. Has anyone seen anything about this? It would be rather unfortunate if the iPad can't save to word as that would mean that I would have to use a version of Pages on my Mac to convert back to Word.

Did I miss something in the video or is the option not there? I am hoping they just decided not to show it in the video.

You can export it to a Word Format (.doc). It's on Apple's website and they say it in the guided tour.

This is true.

I noticed that and was a little worried. If you listen carefully they said Export to Pages, and not Word.

However I also heard that you can download documents from the web including iwork.com which is going to be huge if true. I hope they implement some sort of file system so I can download .docs and edit them on my iPad. Hopefully it will be native since I have .docs in my dropbox account and hopefully I can access or move them to my Pages database all from my iPad.

I thought it did, but eitherway it was also in another video (where Steve Jobs was having a conversation with Walt Mossberg).

That's true.

Honestly it probably was a PR move not wanting to openly show that Microsoft Office is the dominant word processing suite in the market. I'm sure SJ was a little pissed inside when Mossberg commented that if the NYT editors received something in pages they wouldn't know what to do with it.

I'm far more concerned about how document IMPORTING will be addressed from my Mac TO THE iPad. They have not addressed this yet.

Quote the Pages Guided Tour video: "When you're ready, you can share your work via Mail, or via a password-protected website at iWork.com. Or easily export it as a Pages, PDF, or Word file so you can use it on your computer." They did say it exports to Word in the video, unless I've been watching a different Guided Tour video than everyone else.

Maybe they just changed this, but when I watch the video, it says it can export to Word.

There's no mention in either the guided tours, or on Apple's site, about exporting Keynote and Numbers to their Microsoft equivalents.

Huh.. Maybe it was for keynotes/numbers that they didn't specifically say you can export to different programs.

I have no doubt that these will export to office equivalents. I'm more concerned if we can download office/iwork equivalents from the web and edit on the iPad.

Also, anyone noticed how you can't save the PDF's in e-mails? Only images.
