Hi everyone,

Basically the title. I updated to iPadOS 15.2 and got the prompt that Pages would like to access my contacts. I allowed it, locked the iPad, came back to it later and then Numbers wanted access. Locked it again, came back to it a few hours later, and now Keynote asks me for access. I even checked Keynote before and the option to toggle the access to "Contacts" wasn't even there.

Anyone else also having this weird behavior?

There’s likely a new feature in those apps that makes sharing the documents easier. If you can’t trust those apps to have access to your contacts you shouldn’t be using an Apple device - cuz they’re made by Apple

Yeah, that's probably the reason. I was just confused because the "Contacts" toggle wasn't even there at the beginning. And then, suddenly, the prompt appeared and since then I have the toggle. All without any app update. Also don't have the toggles on iOS. Maybe it's just a bit buggy.

I trust Apple as much as I trust Facebook or Google. I don’t hold fantasy believe that Apple is good hearted corporation that really take care it users. It is more or less just marketing.

You're in the minority then.

Facebook and Google's business model is in user data. With both those companies you are the product.

Apple are not total Angel's, but with them you are the Customer.

I am pretty sure Apple also collects users data and use for its own benefits.

Either way they should outline why they requested that access somewhere.

You mean like this?

If you add a message that this will require access to all contacts, yes. Because other apps that use the default share sheet for example don’t need full contact access.

But in fact, I’d much prefer an explanation at the time the request is being presented, like I’ve seen other apps do that request to use Bluetooth for example.
