Hi,

Im writing a book. The book has a map. The map is 2 pages wide. Can I put the map into a pages document covering a 2-page spread? If so, how so?

Ta!

Sorry, but there is no way to do that directly. You would need to bring the map image into an image editing app and manually divide the map into two parts and then insert each part into the document.

No need for that. You can just crop the map image right inside Pages and re-crop a copy of the image for the second page.

My perfectionist side would be afraid my crop lines wouldn't be the same at the center of the image.
Don't do it visually... do it with a manual crop:

  1. Place your image on the page (doesn't matter what size).
  2. Copy the image and place it exactly on top of the first image
  3. Draw a "Shape" (probably square) on top of the 2nd image
  4. With the Shape selected, click the "Arrange" tab in the sidebar on the right
  5. Enter the exact dimensions you want in the "Size" entry boxes.
  6. Now select the Image and the Shape (Shape still on top)
  7. Go to FORMAT in the Menubar and select IMAGE>MASK WITH SELECTION (or just hit Command+Shift+M)
  8. Move that image out of the way and do the same thing to the second image on the opposite side

Looks like a lot of work, but it's really not. It should be fairly clear how to do this once you start.
