A few weeks back I started having problems opening some word documents, Pages would just crash. I opened one a few days ago with no problem, but I didn't close the document before quitting Pages. Now when I try to open Pages it crashes before fully opening. I'm guessing that it's trying to open this document (and a few other Page docs that I tend to leave open when quitting). I deleted Pages and re-installed but that hasn't solved the problem.

My question is, is there a library or file somewhere on my Mac that remembers what these documents are so I can delete it sp that Pages will open clean? Or is there anything else I can do? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Yes. All Mac apps behave that way. Alternatively, you could have gone to System Preferences > General and put a checkmark in the box that says, "Close windows when quitting an app." That's a permanent behavior change. The shift key is a temporary behavior change.
