Hi,

I have a 4 month old PB and I have noticed that paint has scracthed on sloped section of the case in between the trackpad and keybord...

essentially its a silver color underneath....

I was under the impression that these were al and not painted...any idea on what paint to use to fix it?

My guess. Have you ever seen a plane's wing? The shinny aluminum? So yes, they are probably painted to no be so shinny basically. Plus, I think Powerbooks have been the same color and the last PB were Titanium, so yeah, I think they are painted. As for paint, Google doesn't seem to have anything on it.

It could be a coating on the aluminium scratching off, but could it just be a gouge in the metal. I have a tiny gouge out of the case of my PB, and it's shiny.

Do you have any pictures? It would be helpful to see it.

Sorry for the very, very late reply.

People have previously reported that the little strip just underneath the keyboard is in fact just painted plastic. The rest of the case is made of anodised aluminium.

It's diffinately metal (aluminium) and not plastic. I'm not sure why that part is not anodised though.

oh snap! that doesn't look too good!

I sure hope that doesn't happen with my powerbook.
Is yours the final revision Hi-res?
Probably makes no difference what rev PB it is. This has also been reported on the MBPs.
