Paint Shop Pro on FAT32 windows XP?

I want to partition my Macbook Pro (when I get it in a few weeks).
I will be mainly using it for Paint shop pro 8, and I know the FAT32 partition is limited to 32GB. I was wondering whether this would slow down the performance when using paint shop pro?

With FAT32 can use VMWare fusion on OSX and transfer files between the XP drive?

The 32GB partition size limit for FAT32 is an artificial restriction placed on it by Windows. There's no problem in formatting a larger FAT32 partition in OS X.

However, you shouldn't really be using FAT32 - NTFS is much more reliable and supports files larger than 4GB. You can use Boot Camp to partition your drive to whatever size you want, then select the NTFS option on installing Windows. Of course, you can't write files to an NTFS partition in OS X (but you can read them) unless you install MacFUSE and NTFS-3g on the OS X partition.

As for 32GB affecting performance, I'm not sure why you would think so. The only time disk size "affects" performance is when your drive is getting full.

I don't know what the hardware requirements for acceptable performance are with Paint Shop Pro, but unless it uses the GPU heavily, if I were you I would try using it only in VMWare. That would save you the hassle of rebooting into Windows.

ok cool, thanks a lot for the reply... that's good then so if I do the NTFS partition, then using OSX can I open and SAVE the files to OSX? (without using any other programs?). I don't need to write to the partition drive, just need to read and save the paint shop pro files!

Yes, you'll be able to copy from the Boot Camp partition to the OS X partition without any extra software.
