I teach K-5 music and use an Apple TV to stream my classroom music. I have my stereo receiver (Sony) remote paired with the Apple TV so that I can use the extra buttons (pause, play, etc.) as well as control the sound from one remote. Yesterday I noticed that the receiver remote wasn't working at all...so I went back to using the Apple TV remote until I had a chance to delete and re-pair the receiver remote.

Well, when I tried to re-pair the receiver remote today, the up and down arrows worked fine but when I pressed down on the left arrow, the status bar only went about 1/4 of the way and started over. I changed batteries in the remote and now the main arrow buttons work (except for menu which I just applied a different button for that) but I can't get the extra buttons to work (play, pause, fast forward, etc). It doesn't even give me any status for them. This doesn't make sense as the buttons work fine when controlling the receiver and worked fine with the Apple TV all last year. Any suggestions?

I would love to use the iPhone as a remote but don't have access to the school's wifi on my personal device.
