Hi. I'm trying to pair my iPad Pro 5th Gen to my Macbook Pro 2018. I have the latest updates for both. iPad OS 15.1 and MacOS 12.0.1. When I turn Bluetooth on both devices, my MBP shows up on my iPad, but my iPad doesn't show up under Bluetooth devices on my MBP until I select my MBP on my iPad. However, when I select my MBP on my iPad's Bluetooth devices it says my MBP is unsupported. Has anyone else seen this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I am not sure what you expect to happen. iOS devices don’t really pair with Macs, neither is an accessory to the other.

What exactly are you trying to do by pairing them together via Bluetooth? I don't know a single feature between the devices that works that way

I was just thinking if wanted to sync my music, back up my iPad or use an app like Astropad to make my iPad a drawing tablet for my computer.

Cable or WiFi connections are used in those scenarios. Bluetooth is for accessories.

This sounds like an attempt to pair devices via old school bluetooth to transfer data. Doesn't work that way.

Use iCloud or a cable between your MacBook Pro and your iPad.

I highly recommend using iCloud as it's far more convenient these days. I've done the iMazing / iTunes backups of old and I may be getting older but I prefer the time savings of just setting and forgetting iCloud backup - never having to connect cables and wait for transfers and hope it works when I restore etc.

Yeah, automatic iCloud backups are really convenient. I know my parents and aunt wouldn't have backups if not for that.

I've gotten lazy so it's the same for me as well for regular daily/weekly backups. That said, when switching devices or before upgrading between major iOS versions, I still do iTunes encrypted backups.

I am using my iPad Pro as a second screen and since the latest updates have not been able to do this. I am getting the same issue as experienced by the first post.

Any ideas on this would be much appreciated.
