Palm Pre - the O2 UK launch "party"... if anti-climaxes were nuclear fuel, we could power the planet for 100 years...

I didn't get excited, I didn't even laugh... this is a (Face)Palm Pre moment.
I am unsure what your motive is with this post. Mainly because the Pre has been out for what seems like quite a while. In discussing launch parties and in an effort to actually dis them, I would seriously suggest coming and posting a bit sooner. Try somewhere around the launch date of the Pre.
Serves them right. It's just not smart to sign the life of the device you're hoping will bring your company back to life to exclusivity. Either sell it unlocked or make a version for all carriers that way there's good penetration. Poor marketing.
They aren't even selling it in CPW, the largest mobile retailer in the UK!
The only exception to the above rule is Apple and thats purely because the company itself is the epitome of a hype machine
They do have those ads running on the telly though...should count for something i suppose...
He's talking about the launch of the Pre in the UK.
Ah I see. It would have helped, no doubt, if that was stated in the post.![]()
yeah no one can really pull off the iPhone hype quite like apple did....
So the O2 UK part didn't help?
"kdarling" invented the "Pre" 36 years ago![]()
Exactly. IMO you can't copy another companys tactics to make a device popular and you can't market it directly against another product. Phone makers need to stop it with the iPhone killer terms and just market a new phone without that crap and act as if there better than that and as if the iPhone isn't even part of there marketing and it shouldn't.Very true. But Apple had nothing to try and emulate they defined the new smartphone age with the iPhone. The term "iPhone killer" alone singles out who is top dog, not to mention defines a type of phone/device.
The iPhone was done too well the first go around and they've not let up at all. Sure the features set has evolved in a somewhat strange way, but today's iPhone is as robust as any phone out there.
Wow that's quite impressive...I wish!
Exactly thirty-six years ago this month, I got my draft notice. My lottery number was 39. Folks of that era know about such numbers.
A few years later, I was a Staff Sergeant in charge of a NSA tactical electronic warfare division support group, using microprocessor driven equipment that civilians could only dream of.
Imagine if you could take an iPhone back to that era. Science fiction!

The Pre is a nice little phone. The fact that so many of you are so reveling in its poor sales tells me that you're all a little insecure![]()
I hope Palm fails, so 1000 more Americans can lose their jobs! Their kids don't need food anyway, it's overrated. California doesn't need those jobs either, it's not like their unemployment rate is high or anything. I don't care about the jobs of those people, I think there should be only Apple products for sale! Hurry up Steve, sell me something!!! My wallet is open!!!!
