Palm Rejection and Apple/Logitech Pencil

Hi, how does the palm rejection mechanism work for the Pencil? Does it literally reject only the palm or does it reject the entire hand?

I am asking as I tried using the iPad with both my fingers and Pencil simultaneously and noticed that my fingers are not being detected sometimes.
