I can't understand everyone running out to get palm rests for their MBPs. According to Apple, they do NOT stain and 'if they do' you can have your top replaced. What's the reason to put up with that extra annoyance. What's more, some of them actually make contact with the screen - not cool.

Because I had two powerbooks do the pitting trick! Yuck! (althought not as bad as those photo's ... but I sold them before they got bad. A new machine started doing it with in 3 months of owning it. What can I say, my hands are magic!)

are you positive that if it starts pitting at any time it will be replaced under applecare? i much prefer naked but i am bothered by the salt residue i see from a light amount of sweat while playing a game or something and its very hot.

Positive. On two occasions I have been told that Apple's official stance is that they should NOT stain and if they do, the situation will be resolved.

I mean come on, although I don't necessarily endorse it, if you get flack for it, just... 'push a little extra on your trackpad button' and make it wear out a little more... quickly. Since the MBP is all one piece, there ya go.

I like to be naked.......

Woah, that's more info than I needed to know..... Wait, you're talking about your laptop.

Carry on.... :)

In all seriousness, I agree. I'm a huge fan of not adding a bunch of things to the outside of your laptop. I feel it takes away from the look of it. But that's me.
