I have a 11.6" MBA, and today I was cleaning the screen when I noticed a line. Thinking it was just something built up on the screen, I just kept cleaning. Now I find divots in the screen. These are centered on the raised area above the trackpad and below the spacebar. They're deep enough to snag a fingernail if you gently run your nail over them.

Anybody see this before? I had a couple of PowerBooks and a MacBook that would pick up oil off the keyboard onto the screen, but no lasting scratches like this. It barely leaves my desk and is carried in a Booq Vyper case if it does. Nothing really in the case so I don't think it is having excess pressure on the lid.

I've scheduled an appointment to have Apple look at it.

I've seen this reported on occasion, and is usually related to carrying the Air in a backpack or bag where it receives a lot of pressure. Is that the case?

No, the only time I carry it around it is in a Viper case with nothing but the MBA in it. I carry the case in my hand, not in an another bag.

i've had my 11 inch since right around launch, and often carry it with my in bags where things might press against the screen. Thus far, no marks or indentations on mine....

no issues here with a 13" version.

i've had laptops in the past whose keyboards, etc. would rub and mar the screen. because of this, i always install a screen protector immediately upon purchase whether it needs it or not.

I had my screen replaced for this exact same thing. I'm quite fastidious about any screen markings and got this lightly within a month and did not want it getting worse - they claimed it was due to the pressure thing, although I have never consciously put it under any pressure, although it does travel with me anywhere. I have been particularly careful since the new screen and have so far had no problems! (Apart from a stuck pixel... but that's a whole different can of worms that annoys me!)
