We have just submitted version 1.2.3 to the App Store. Our blog post details all the changes in this build, complete with screenshots.

A summary of the changes to expect can be found below:

WHAT'S NEW
• Email notifications - the Palringo servers keep you connected for up to three hours, and if you're not actively running Palringo, will relay messages to your email address.
• Group administration - create and moderate your own chat groups.
• New Spanish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and German translations
• Ability to save photos automatically to the iPhone's Camera Roll as they are captured & sent
• New iChat-like theme, improved Palringo theme and better text composing interface.
• New Tutorial Videos

WHAT'S IMPROVED
• Noticeably faster, optimized user interface
• Much improved stability
• Now handles MSN Group Chat invitations
• Greatly improved connection speed
• Improved thumbnail quality in chat windows
• New smileys and smiley selection panel
• Server-side spam filter
• Supports HTTPS proxies

WHAT'S BEEN FIXED
• Wrapping of long text messages and nicknames is now done correctly
• Corrected issues with session resuming
• Palringo now keeps you connected server-side even if the iPhone gets disconnected when locked
• Corrected the issue with images disappearing from the chat windows if the iPhone runs out of memory
• Fixed the display of duplicated contacts
• Fixed crashes when removing services

We're now branching off and beginning work on 1.3. This will feature Palringo Local, Avatar Support, and a revised UI. If you have any suggestions for 1.3 - please post them now!

Thanks to everyone for making Palringo the success it is!

Do you think we will be able to choose which email address we get notifications sent to?
The reason i ask is because I would like these notifications to be pushed through to my Mail app. However, since I use Windows Live through palringo, I cannot connect my hotmail account to mail and thus would like it to be sent to my yahoo account.

Any ideas?

Notifications will be sent to the email address you registered as your Palringo account. You can change this email address in the "My Account" setting on the Palringo website.

I'm giving this another chance because the updates sound like a serious improvement.

Hopefully Apple will get that "push" thing they were talking about out soon enough...

I think in the update there should be where it saves your conversations so that when you open the app again you can see the entire conversation, I don't think I saw that on the 1.2.3 update, or maybe I misread

What's the word? Good, bad?

Interface is nice.

Then, I told my friend to text me through my AIM after I quit the app. I was hoping to receive an email telling me that I got a reply. No dice. I am using yahoo and Push is on. I got no email.

It sure is faster and more stable though. Paliringo used to crash when I try to remove a service. Not anymore. So, I'm glad for that.

EDIT: A restart fixed the email issue. Nice.
