Panaroma problem...

I am trying to setup my Gigapan Epic 100, with my Fuji XE2S, Nikkor 50mm. as well as my Nikkor 35-135mm f3.5-5.6, Nikkor 70-210 F4.5-5.6, and Fuji 28mm f2.8. This test shot was with the 50mm.

Is this Parallax error?

Settings:

Manual focus, manual white balance

Nikkor 50mm prime at f8

Manual exposure 1/15 of a second.

I also have the tray aligned to -6 on the arm.

Looks maybe like a dumb stitching software and off set horizontal issue.

- Have you got it levelled correctly? i.e. perfectly flat?

- Fuji XE2S tripod mount hole is not on the nodal point is it? it is offset from the lens so maybe the movements are taking it off axis?

- Try stitching the panorama in Lightroom or PS rather than bundled software?

Personally, I don't recommend trying to take pano's of multi-layers with variable lenses, unless you can digitally command the focal length somehow. Too many headaches getting the nodal points worked out for various focal lengths to make it worth bothering with!

I'm gathering that your -6 adjustment is to get the nodal point fixed?

As @kenoh mentioned, take a look at your horizontal level.

I would work somewhere where you make sure you have the levels, well, ummm, level, and then get your nodal point locked in and record that adjustment, so it's easy to recall later on. I have records for four prime lenses, so I can switch them out and get going quickly if I want to.

For one internal pano. I did for a large art exhibition, I had three different white balances as it panned across the venue! Not that it appears to be a problem for you here, just the alignments not working for you.

@OP: My guess is that it is a combination of not aligning the image frame with the rotation axis and not having enough image overlap for the stitching software to work with.

Also, I agree with Alexander.Of.Oz that using zoom lenses has too many issues and should generally be avoided. This is compounded by mixing brands. The Fuji body will not apply any lens corrections for Nikkor lenses and unless you take some manual action to correct the images before stitching problems will arise. The 50mm Nikkor should pose much problem a sit is exceptionally well corrected. The native Fuji 28 should be well corrected by the Fuji body if and only if you are using in-camera JPEGs. If you are using RAW images and converting to JPEG or TIFF on your computer, the conversion software needs to handle the 28mm Fuji lens very accurately.

I would like to add that it seems the gigapan is not overlapping enough. I am missing the fence in the middle.
