Pandora 2.0 Is Out

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this elsewhere, but Pandora 2.0 is out and has several nice features:

- View progress bar by tapping on the album art
- View artist and song bio by clicking on the button in upper-right similar to the iPod
- Landscape view to see past songs
- Ability to create stations from genres, songs, and artists on the fly
- Send stations to friends

i have a question regarding pandora - is there anyway i can send the audio to my home stereo using the iphone (similar to the remote app)...

...i love pandora, and if i could listen to it on my home stereo than that would be perfection!

I plug mine into my stereo system using the headphone jack. Works great. I use the Aux ports on the back of my system with a "Y" cable and then I can also plug into outlet for power if needed. My cable is long enough that i do not get any feedback interferance.

sorry - i wasnt clear. i meant a way to send pandora music to the stereo by using the iphone as a 'remote'...i should be able to walk around and have my iphone with me so that i can control the application...

i am able to do this today to the music on my computer, using itunes, the 'remote' app and airport express...

You want to stream Pandora to your home stereo wirelessly? I can't imagine how this would be possible. You obviously can't use AE or ATV with Pandora on the iPhone. Even if you had software that allowed you to stream Pandora from your Mac to your AE, you wouldn't be able to control that from your iPhone without the appropriate iPhone software. So, the only way I can imagine it being feasible is by using 3rd party software on your Mac to stream content from apps other than iTunes to AE, and then using a VNC app on your iPhone to control your Mac. That would be a bit cumbersome.

The only other way is to log into the Pandora website on your computer and hook up your stereo system to the computer and play all you want. This would also allow you to keep your iPhone with you and like the poster above...use Jaadu VNC to remotely control your computer.

The iPhone is not capable of doing what you currently are asking it to do.

Correct. While it's technically possible Apple doesn't even have this feature in the Remote app because it would drain the battery pretty quickly.

i was thinking along the same lines...VNC into the computer to start pandora and then send it wirelessly from the computer to the airport express!

New guy here, but thought I could offer up another idea, if you're willing to spend a little money.

There are a few products out there that allow you to attach a Bluetooth transmitter to your iPod through the headphone jack and run a corresponding receiver into your stereo's line-in jack.

Here's one I found. It would require a male-to-male adapter, but it could work: http://www.purehitech.com/acc_UBTSHSD.html


Of course, you could always just use an iTrip, haha.

I never was motivated to download the first pandora, but i figured I would give this one a try - great piece of software! One negative... you can't buy songs over 3G. Even though the iTunes store technically allows you to do, pandora still gives a message about not being on wifi - my guess is that they will fix this in the next update.
