I am happy they brought stereo to wifi, because at home and at work I can now listen to higher quality Pandora, but I wish they would bring it to 3G so I could listen to it in my car at higher quality. I know the network can support it because with Tuner I listen to 128k streams all the time in my car.

in the update can you now view bookmarks from your iphone instead of going on a computer to view them?

Unfortunately not, unless I missed something. But it does seem silly that you can bookmark all these songs from the app but have no way of actually getting to them from the app.

Among other changes, there's a new sorting system for your playlists. You can choose to sort by creation date or alphabetically. The only thing that makes me wish I had an iPhone 3G over a free iPod Touch is the ability to stream Pandora in my car. I've been addicted to Pandora for a while now, and this app isn't helping.

It also looks like if you go to the home screen, and relaunch the app, it resumes your previous track instead of starting you at the playlist selector. I accidentally hit home and closed the app, and I don't remember that from 1.0.

I can't get the update!

I deleted the app from my computer completely and when ever I download Pandora I get version 1.0 not 1.1

This stinks :(

I found the update through the App Store on my iPod Touch, not the iTunes Store. I just tried to run an update through the applications menu in my library, without syncing the iPod to it yet, and it says there are no updates available. I guess the two interfaces haven't synced up yet.

Anyone else think Pandora is pushing an Agenda. For instance, on the Weezer station, I hear the same solo song by Rivers Cuomo every time I turn on the station. Could his solo album not be doing well?

On the Tiny Dancer(Elton John song) station, it almost always starts with Levon by Elton John off the Greatest hits album, then goes to a Bob seger song.

I've heard the song Push by Matchbox Twenty several times. Different versions even. I'm just saying, either Pandora has a limited catalog which I don't think is true, or they are purposely trying to drive certain album sales. I mean the whole thing is a marketers dream is it not?

There are no set 'stations'. Everything is custom for you. If you get a song that you dislike, give it a thumbs down. Then, give the songs you like a thumbs up. Over time you're library will expand as they learn more about your musical tastes.

I have a station I've been using for two years now, and it's near perfect. I almost always hear a great band I've never heard before, and all the classics play as well. :)

I've metioned this in another thread, Pandora's audio quality's really lacking. Enough that I can't see why one would bother, in most situations. Close the app and open iTunes, and it's like your ears just popped. Everything just opens up again. I haven't downloaded the new version, but if that hasn't changed, what's the use? It's a shame too, because it's a great idea.

On the new version in wifi the sound quality is really good. I could definitely tell a marked quality difference. I have a feeling the app can only get better.

How is Pandora legal at all? Is there some loop hole? Dont think the RIAA would be happy about it.

Yeah it is about the most legal thing you will find.

They follow very strict rules in terms of how and when they broadcast songs.

You will notice that you can only skip six songs an hour on any particular channel. These rules are in place to keep it from being an unlimited on-demand Jukebox, which would anger the RIAA. As it stands now though, Pandora pays licensing fees and complies with all applicable broadcast rules per their agreements.

I'm really loving Pandora.

My big complaint about Pandora, last.fm, AOL Radio et al is that I've been listening to all of them on the go and while in my car. But if I get an sms, I have to turn the music off to reply.

For example, I've been using flytunes.fm since it came out last winter and you can access sms and other applications while playing music. I know that is accessible through the browser, but I wish all the other radio apps worked the same way.

Is this something about the iPhone sdk? Is it feasible that future releases will allow you to use sms or check you calendar or what not with out having to turn off the radio?

That's great, but this is where the subject of customer base comes up. I, like many others, am a city dweller. I wear my earphones often, while running about town. This is when I would be utilizing Pandora. It would be nice to use it when I jumped in the car as well. However, as mentioned, the sound quality isn't up to par in these, non Wi-Fi, situations. While at home, and in the office (Wi-Fi zones), I have many options other than Pandora to satisfy my listening needs that deliver as good, if not better, quality and options.

Look.. I've no motive here, other than getting some better sound quality out of this application. There are other iPhone options (webapps, even) that deliver better sound quality and play exactly the song you're looking for, albeit not as great a concept.

edit: having reread your OP, we seem to be on the same page. ;)

Yeah, for example, I started off with a Red Hot Chili Peppers station a couple years ago, and morphed it into a station based on exactly what I like - harder modern rock like radiohead, audioslave, franz ferdinand, foo fighters, and rage against the machines, and lighter stuff like death cab for cutie, red hot chili peppers, the killers, the raconteurs, nirvana, and tom petty. It's dead on with what I enjoy listening to, but only because of how I rated the songs (with thumbs up or thumbs down, or even if I tell it not to play for a month)...

And that's just the modern rock station I created! I have another three great stations - a dedicated rap station, a ded. reggae station, and a great classic rock station.

I have to admit, even before pandora created an iphone app, I loved them and what they stood for (I'm all about open-source and the music genome project. In fact, if I didn't own a mbp, I'd probably have a dedicated system running linux!). Now, because of the app, I just love them even more! :D

I completely disagree with Pandora's audio quality. I listen to it just about every day on the way to work and 3G sounds great. I went up north, out of 3G coverage, and while it didn't sound as good, it was certainly playable on edge. I'd say almost as good as XM and Sirius (which I know a lot of people think are lacking anyway)

For edge I was shocked as to how good it sounds, for 3G and wifi I think it flat out sounds great. Either way, the app is free, the service is free, people should certainly try it out and see if it's right for them. I would still listen to it all the time even if I just had edge.

Does anyone know if Pandora can or will implement 120Kbps over 3G or if AT&T and/or Apple forbid it? I would love to be able to enjoy (120Kbps is just passable) Pandora but it's not needed when I'm at home or work (WiFi). Also does Last.FM encode at 120Kbps over 3G (haven't tried it yet)?
