Thinking of adding paper like screen cover. Can this harm the screen coating on the standard IPPM4 and any disadvantage to fitting one compared to not

It won’t hurt the standard display. You can remove it again with no damage.

Like with all matte screen protectors, it will affect screen clarity by adding grain and color noise, and it’ll add significant “haze” if you’re viewing it off angle with any sort of light on the tablet. The only other real disadvantage is they scratch over time with pencil use, so you should think of them as disposable items you swap out periodically.

You might consider a magnetic (ESR) or static cling (Rock Paper Pencil) removable paper-like protector. Those you put on and pull off as needed. They’re not as clear as a permanent protector (particularly ESR, which leaves a small air gap) but you’d only use it when drawing. You do need a place to safely store them to the side when not using them.

I just got the rock paper pencil screen cover and ballpoint tip set for my M1 iPad Pro 12.9” and couldn’t be happier. Writing / drawing feels much more like pen and paper now. Before I’d either slide across the screen, or the rubber tip would catch at certain points while drawing.

I’m really digging it. I think the ballpoint tip is what put this on top compared to other screen covers I’ve tried in the past. The fact it can be peeled off and reset is another bonus. Dreading the day I try to remove an older cover from my iPad mini.

why do you dread removing a older screen protector?
