Are these programs incompatible? Posts from several sources, the most recent in June, suggests compatibility problems and as far as I can see, Paragon has not updated the program since May or June 08. Fusion works wonderfully esp. with recent RC. I'd hate to screw things up but would like to be able to write to NTFS disks under OSX. Any new developments with the Paragon program that give better stability?

Paragon NTFS still works great for me. But note that if you are booting a Windows VM from an NTFS partition, such as a Boot Camp convention, it'll get automatically dismounted from OS X as it launches and remounted to OS X when it's stopped.

So, if my XP boot camp disk is NTFS, it will no longer boot under Fusion unless I uninstall Paragon NTFS for MacOSX? That seems like a real deal-breaker. Does the freeware combo have the same issue?

No.

Mac OS X can mount and read NTFS partitions without issue. Paragon NTFS allows write access on top of that. Paragon is in no way required by VMware Fusion or OS X.

I was describing what happens if you have both Paragon NTFS and VMware Fusion when you boot an NTFS partition as a VM. If you boot a virtual machine from an NTFS partition in VMware Fusion, it's going to want exclusive access to that partition, so to prevent corruption (where OS X might modify the NTFS partion and the VM wouldn't know or vice versa) the NTFS partition gets automatically dismounted by OS X when the VM is started up. Then, when the VM is stopped, it gets automatically remounted.

Hi, thanks for the replies...

I know Fusion is not dependent on whether or not Paragon NTFS is installed but assuming it is installed, would my XP boot camp disk, which is an NTFS formatted disk, still boot under Fusion? I have not yet downloaded Paragon NTFS. If my XP partition will no longer boot with Fusion, I will have big problems accessing some work programs that do not work with Mac OSX.
