I upgraded to parallels 3.

I do not understand some things about it.

I run it, but when I press the button for coherence, it does not seem to work at all. Nothing happens. What it is supposed to do? Why this do not function?

I also run the parallels compressor. It took me about 5 hours in my mbp c2d and it did not complete! I suppose it needed about 5 more hours! It took forever.
My mbp was almost on fire (fully working) so I cancel it.

Another point:
How do I run win applications through mac os x? I tried to run some .exes but they did not run.

Please help!

Coherence only will work if there is an application launched. When you do, the applications window will be presented without the Windows desktop (like a document in OS-X).

I haven't run compressor, so can't give any data on that.

".exe"s are Windows executables. They will only run in the Windows operating system. If you've downloaded them into OS-X, copy the file to your Windows VM (you can drag and drop to Windows desktop). Then you should be able to launch it "normally" in Windows.

Actually Coherence works immediately, and hides the Windows desktop even if no applications are open in Windows.

You probably need to install Parallels Tools. Select "Install Parallels Tools..." from the "Actions" menu.

In the current version of Parallels Desktop it takes a long time, from my understanding that is supposed to be fixed in the next update to Parallels 3.0.

Once you have Parallels Tools installed you'll need to set Parallels to show applications in the Dock in Parallels' preferences. Then you need to open a Windows Explorer window. Press and hold the mouse button on the Windows Explorer icon in the Dock and a menu should popup. Select SmartSelect. In the window that opens, set the exe extension to open with Windows Explorer.
