Hello,

Using Parallels with a new iMac.
Seems to work pretty well.

Read about this "Coherence Mode" option with Parallels, and several, more or less how-to do it,
articles, but frankly am totally confused. Again, that old age thing.

Sounds nifty, and would like to try it out.

I do have Parallels Tools installed.
At least I think I do, as I can pull it up.

So, if anyone has a spare few minutes, might you please give me the
step-by-steps to doing it.
The simpler and more basic how-to would really be best for me .

BTW: Is it easy to revert back if for some reason I don't like it ?

And, what is your opinion on this mode ? Useful ?

Thanks, as always appreciate the help,
Bob

At the very top of the Windows screen click on View and then choose Enter Coherence.

If you are using full screen mode Parallels will autohide the menu bar at the top and it can be tricky to get it to display sometimes. In that case go to the Dock in macOS, right-click on the Windows logo and choose View then Enter Coherence.

Coherence is my mode of choice in Parallels. Basically it just makes Windows apps look like macOS apps and hides the Windows desktop.

Hi,

Sure is a lot to know.
Thanks for the help; much appreciated.

I'm always a bit worried about being able to revert back to an older "state" if something
I try doesn't work out.

If I go to this Coherence mode, and don't like it, or..., how "easy" is it to revert bsak
to the normal Parallels switching ?

How ?

Thanks again,
Bob

Just as easy as switching to coherence mode. Just go back to the parallels menu at the top and change it again. I go back and forth frequently.

Hi,

I found the VIEW pull down in W10 AS suggested, and the "Enter Coherence" is there, but it is greyed out.

Any idea why, and/or what I should check ?

Possibly the Parallels Tools I don't have set up right ?
Fairly certain that it is "installed," as I can get to it and open it up. But,...?

Other possibilities to check ?

Thanks,
Bob

If Coherence Mode is greyed out my first inclination is that it is indeed a problem with Parallels Tools.

Parallels Tools usually automatically installs after installation of a Windows VM or any major OS updates.

Parallels has an easy to follow step-by-step guide for installing/reinstalling Parallels Tools at this page.
