i was thinking about trying out parallels. can i install it on my macbook and my imac, or do i need 2 licenses?

You will definitely need two copies - each for one computer. It's normal I think.

Just download VMware Fusion instead. For the time being, it's free.
When are they going to make it shareware? Is there any info about it?
I don't think that Fusion is much better than Parallels now. I haven't tried it and info in the net is rather scarce, but it is Beta anyway, and Parallels is not. I should have said first that I'm a devoted fan of Parallels, but I haven't tried Fusion yet. Maybe it's worth waiting until they release full version of the product.
