As far as I understand the Mac mini can' have more than 2gb - can it take more any other way?

I'm happy to say you were right and I thank you for pointing that out - it's a great help! I wonder why i can't see that stated anywhere on the Apple's website but I did find it on other sites. I also see references to support for 4gb!

OWC sells 3 GB kits. I believe there are a few conflicting reports about 4 GB support as well. The operating system may report 4 GB as available but the 945GM chipset limits you to 3-3.25 GB.

The only problem with the 3 GB upgrade is that Apple doesn't offer it directly so you have to open up your Mac mini or get a technician to do it.

It is cheaper to buy your own RAM though then from Apple.

The Mac mini is a great machine if you know how to customize it yourself.

I'm not a afraid to pop the top off and hack it. :D
