Parallels Security?

When running Windows via Parallels are the same security concerns present as when running Windows via Bootcamp? Is there another thread which discusses this?

Yeah, Windows is just as vunerable under Parallels compared to Boot Camp, so make sure you get all the relevant security updates and firewall/anti-virus/anti-spyware and you'll be fine

Although unlike windows on a pc you can just exit parallels, find the hard drive image of xp on your drive and copy it somewhere else for a quick backup
