Hi all! I've been reading some good and bad things about Apple retail jobs. I am considering quitting my current phone sales job or going back to school (M-F 6AM-2PM). I only see myself available M-F 3PM to closing, Sat/Sun anytime to work for Apple (part-time). Does anyone know if they would be able to work with me or do they tend to require me to be a little bit more flexible in scheduling? Thanks for the feedback!

From my experience, it depends on the store you are applying to. Time shifts are allocated by a computer program (I believe called KRONOS) and if the store has more morning shifts available, they will not give you enough hours. If they don't have the hours you want, they might not hire you based on your availability. The more flexibility the better. Management really likes near full availability.
I quit a couple months after two years there since they now require minimum 4 days of work, which was impossible as a full-time student. It sucked, but education > retail.
Oh, if you don't put much time into Apple retail, you don't really get to move up internally IMHO, unless your intentions are just for income.
Nonetheless, it was still a good experience though I do have stuff I'd love to rant about. haha

Oh thank you for the feedback. I really appreciate it! I guess keeping a full time job on top of a retail job is impractical. That makes sense. If I wanted to switch to Apple as the only full time job, my only other question is if the job offer was full time - does that mean 40 hours guaranteed per week or can they reduce hours without reason?
My current job is with a leads company. Phone sales that mostly involved making phone calls and taking incoming calls. It's mainly a mix of sales and customer service. I make $12 per hour as an hourly salary. Commission is $10 or $20 per sale. On my decent days, I average $1200 every 2 weeks after taxes are deducted. I know if I switch to Apple, I'd probably be looking at less pay for a higher effort. My current job will never give raises. They only offer performance bonuses every 2 weeks (i.e. 1st place in sales $500, 2nd $400, 3rd $300, 4th $200, 5th $100).
There is no US law on what constitutes full time. Over 40 hours is only required for overtime. However, professionals are exempt from that rule.
Basically, the company can say what full time is. I once worked for a company where 32 hours was full time. However, that didn't mean you were guaranteed those hours per week. That was simply an average.
