So, I'm trying to use Bootcamp to set up a Windows partition. However, I keep getting an error message telling me that some of my data cannot be partitioned and that I need to go to the disk utility and set up a single Mac OS X Journal (Extended). However, the disk utility tells me that that is how my computer is already set up. Does anyone know how this can be fixed/what is causing it? Thank you in advance.

If it helps, the exact text of the error message is:

The Disk Cannot Be Partitioned Because Some Files Cannot Be Moved

Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.

This happened to me, disk utility did not help after repairing permissions,it says in the bootcamp manual that if this does not work then you have to reinstall OSX.

I had this error too, it is basically a defragmentation issue. At least that is how i see it.

To get around it what I did was boot from an external drive and use a tird party application to defragment the disk. Then rebooted onto my internal and all was well. There is potential to destroy the disk by doing this but the same applies for using bootcamp. Just have an up to date backup.
