So, I'm trying to use Bootcamp to set up a Windows partition. However, I keep getting an error message telling me that some of my data cannot be partitioned and that I need to go to the disk utility and set up a single Mac OS X Journal (Extended). However, the disk utility tells me that that is how my computer is already set up. Does anyone know how this can be fixed/what is causing it? Thank you in advance.

Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again.

I had this error too, it is basically a defragmentation issue. At least that is how i see it.
To get around it what I did was boot from an external drive and use a tird party application to defragment the disk. Then rebooted onto my internal and all was well. There is potential to destroy the disk by doing this but the same applies for using bootcamp. Just have an up to date backup.
