Hello

I'm trying to make a new partition on a 256gb SSD, I've done this dozens of times but this time ive drawn a blank.

I open up disk utillity and go over to the pie wheel to set the new partition , i press + and the pie splits in two but the new partition will not go over 1.83gb. I have 2 256GB SSD's that i want to split 120/100gb but theres no way of doing it on any of the 2 installed in the mac mini 2012.

SSD are formatted to the AP apples file system

i am running the Beta 10.15.6

I want to create a new partition to do the Big Sur

It could be that you are creating a new Volume within an already existing Container. Try creating a new Container.

No mate anyways ended up sorting it.

i couldn't make a 2nd partition using the APFS which was the problem. I made the new partition as ExFat which is did perfectly then formatted the ExFat to APFS.

A round about way in the end but the ONLY way it would do what i wanted in the end.
