So I partitioned my Yosemite running laptop to try and run Windows. Turned out the partition was some kind of GDT partition even though it was NTFS so Windows refused to install. So i went back in OSX and tried to merge the partitions back. All of a sudden i have to repair my Yosemite partition. Go into recovery, try to recover, says it can't. Try to boot up, get a folder with a question mark. Here's where it gets interesting.
Back into recovery, I literally cannot do anything with the free space (format, erase, nothing). I cannot resize my Yosemite partition. I cannot erase my Yosemite partition (Disk Erase failed with the error: couldn't unmount disk). I cannot restore from a backup on my time capsule because I don't have enough space because I have so much free space that i cannot merge with the primary partition. Repairing the primary partition tells me it cannot repair and to save as many files as I can and reformat. Too bad I can't reformat...
My last and final course of action is to create a Mavericks install USB...
Anyone know if this will work? Or am I going to the apple store?
