Got a little bird telling me about a 3rd party app, that is actually using Apple's Passbook file format, so you can replicate Passbook exactly. Add Google Wallet to your S3, Note 2, HOX, Nex7, etc and you just eliminated your need for a wallet. Even your drivers license can be replicated. Police only need your license # anyway.
Anyway, the app is called PassWallet and it is free and no ads. I just made some fake coupons and tickets to show what it looks like.

The app itself just sits there. It is waiting for the phone to recognize a new ticket or coupon. You will have a new option for Pass wallet next time you have the option to save a ticket for something. You can also create your own. If you click on the developers website, there is more info.

Also, since this is using Apple's file extension names, we have to wait for ios6 to be releases. We are just like the Pass book beta testers at this point.

These "fly by night" developers have more than a facebook account. http://www.attidomobile.com/

Apples Passbook app, and this app don't have access to any credit cards or other financial data. Thats not how it works. See here if you would like to know how it works.

Lemon. Com app = encrypted and password protected files. License and insurance stored here, should I get pulled over by the cops. Registration still in paper form in the car.

Lose phone = remote android wipe and all data is secured. Google wallet can be independently used to delete credit card info from any pc, tablet or phone.

I think I'll keep using my S3 and leave my wallet at home. It's a liberating feeling just carrying some cash and a phone.

1. You need a physical license in order to use it. Nobody is going to take your picture on a phone as ID. If cops need your license number only, that can always been written ANYWHERE you need it in your car.
2. Only an idiot would leave the house with credit cards or a debit card with more than how much they usually spend on a night out.
3. It's pretty hard to lose a wallet. I don't know how people do that. They must have really terrible memory to just leave a wallet somewhere.

No airline or anything that requires a real ID will let you use that, sorry it just is not going to work.

There are situations when having your ID and cards on hand are not needed. You have to be reasonable and at least keep them in your car just in case.

Giving a cop your DL number does not proof anything to them or identifies you as being that person that that said number says you should be.
And will not be acceptable to them wether you like it or not.

I suggest you educate yourself on the law before speaking. Everything you stated above is wrong with regards to police and id. If I am on public property and not involved in any legal activity, a cop can ask for my id and I do not have to respond. I can walk away. If the cop were to have reasonable suspicion that I was involved in a crime or matched a description we can move to a Terry Stop and he can ask for ID. I DO NOT have to provide one, I simply have to state my name and date of birth and address. The Supreme Court has thrown out every State challenge that a person is required to have "credible and reliable" id that carries a "reasonable assurance" of its authenticity, on grounds of 'vagueness'.
As long as you are not in the middle of committing a crime, obstructing justice or there is reasonable suspicion by a cop to believe you have or are about to commit a crime, you need only provide a verbal response during a Terry Stop. Having my identification digitally stored goes beyond this requirement and allows an officer to view my dl number to cross check with dmv records. Should that cop attempt to view any other info on my phone has been deemed a violation of my rights and not admissible.

As for bars, clubs that serve etc... They specifically state in writing that you must have a valid I'd to be served and they also have the right for refusal. These a privately owned bars complying with Federal and State laws. This is not the same thing as above. You are not forced into any bar and no one forces you to drink. If I don't want to carry a paper Id, I don't have to go drinking. There is a choice here.
I also do not have to fly. Again, if I don't want to carry an ID, I don't have to fly. In my case though, I don't need a drivers license to fly anyway. And if you want to use a passport to fly domestically or any other for of government ID, you can. But this is only for security checkpoints, not in actually obtaining a ticket.

You need to learn the difference between free, detained, arrested; State and Federal laws, with an emphasis on identification. And remember Federal law trumps State law. In other words, I don't need my actually plastic license on me. Ever

Like the concept, and like that the app doesn't store any sensitive info per se, but don't the passes you load potentially contain sensitive info? This might not be as much a concern, but I see the app is requesting permission to access the internet...

When I try to install Google Wallet on my Galaxy SIII (w/Verizon) I get the message that the app is not compatible w/my phone. Is this the app you are referring to or am I trying to download the wrong one?
