I often read ebooks in the middle of the night, in a pitch black room.
Unfortunately, the passcode screen comes up as a bright light-grey rather than black. Is there any way of changing that?
It's a pre-Touch ID device, so I have to use the passcode.
I've explored changing some of the Accessibility settings but, so far, nothing seems to work.
Any suggestions or work-arounds appreciated!

P.S. A wrinkle in this. I typically have the colors inverted on this device (an old iPod touch) as that makes the ebook reading and general use more comfortable. If I don't invert the colors, then the opening *unlock* screen is a bright white! That wreaks havoc with restful, night vision. Yet, with colors inverted, the *passcode* screen is even worse -- a bright *white*-grey!
I could skip having a passcode entirely, but I keep my todo list, contacts, calendars, etc. on it.
