Bought my 13 Pro a year ago.
I don't think I ever established a passcode, and I know I never established Face ID.
Both features have been switched off since the phone was new.
If I DID establish a passcode, how can I figure out what it was?
I don't want to experiment with this and take a chance of disabling the phone (locking it and not being able to get back in).

If you never made a passcode, then you are already in. Why are you asking us?
Yes, I am in.
That isn't the point, but as I've already said, I cant remember if I ever established one.
My phone has never been programmed to require one, so far.

Dodge. How can I get in to a phone I have stolen.
What's your point?
Are you accusing me of stealing the phone that I bought, own, and have all the receipts for, and have been using for over a year?
..................sounds like it!

Settings > Passcode

If you setup a code previously and forget, that is where you find out if one is needed, as you won't be ale to get past the block. If you didn't set one up, you will get in.

If you don't, and have not ever had, a passcode --- Go to Settings, then Face ID & Passcode.
If you have never set up a passcode, then that setting pane will allow you to create your very own passcode.
If instead, it simply asks you to enter your passcode, then you have a passcode.

If it wants to help you create that passcode, and you still don't want one, just cacncel out of that settings pane.

Me: Did I bring the car home? I forgot.

Wife: YOU are home, aren't you? So the car must be home.

Me: Yes, I drove home, but I don't know if the CAR is home. I forgot.

Wife: Well, why are you asking me? Go look in the garage!

Can you see why we are confused? Why are you asking us if you can just go into the passcode settings?

Honestly, this is a weird post/thread. If you've been using it for over a year and haven't needed a passcode this whole time, why are you asking how to figure it out? It honestly screams of stolen or trying to get into partner's phone. You may be telling the truth but you are absolutely asking weird questions for someone who has been using a phone on a daily basis for a year.

It's very weird. If it is not something sketchy he is just not stating the issue very well.

As @Apple_Robert suggested Settings/FaceID/passcode. If you setup a passcode it will ask for it immediately, if you don't know it you can hit cancel and be exactly at the point you're at now..

It's a lot more likely than "I don't think I set up a passcode, but if I did, what is it?".

Problem resolved.
Thanks to all of you who were helpful with your suggestions!
