I’m having an issue logging into an app for a service which I have been accessing through their website in Safari. There was a passkey recently created for the site even though I still have the standard password and user name displayed in Settings/Passwords. I thought the created passkey might be the issue with the app so I thought if I could copy the passkey and enter that in place of the password in the app it might recognize me. However there is no way to view the passkey in Settings, only the existence of a passkey for the site is displayed, no way to view what it is. I’m probably misunderstanding how this function works but is there any way to view a passkey and copy it?

Thanks for the reply. I did a little more digging and found that a passkey can neither be viewed nor edited in your settings. It can be deleted on the device and then must be deleted on that site creating a new one if desired such as if you’ve shared it with someone you no longer wish to. It is tied to the device but can be synced to your other devices. I didn’t have a clear understanding of how they work. I thought they would be accessible in Passwords for an account and able to be viewable and copied as passwords are. But that’s not how they work apparently.

A passkey isn’t a thing you can view. What App is it and has the developer updated the app so you can login using a passkey?

Couldn’t you delete that passkey and re-sign up for it?
Sign in using your password and delete the passkey?

Thanks for the replies guys. The problem with the app was the password I was using. That led me to think about trying to use the passkey. But most apps, I believe, don’t support passkeys at this time. The website does. I got everything straightened out and in the process learned that passkeys can neither be viewed, edited, nor copied. They can only be deleted and recreated if desired. Anyway all is good right now.
