am using 'wallet' for password management (on my mac and iphone), but concerned about future support, and wondered how it runs on el capitan. anyone?

meanwhile, just wondering, what do you use, and what do you recommend?

I agree with Mike. 1Password is an excellent program that is able to sync to multiple devices should you need to do so. You can also keep your sync local as well. In my opinion, it is well worth the money.

1Password. I have about 100 different passwords, notes, and gift cards on there. The iPhone version is TouchID compatible and has a built in browser that works pretty well. I don't put any identification or credit cards on there but there is an option to do so for checking out online faster.

1Password is excellent. Been using it for years and the applications run very well.

Also - With the release of iOS9 Passbook is being renamed as 'Wallet'. I'm not sure about you but I would not be happy with two apps named 'Wallet' on my iPhone.

hmm...something else to consider. meanwhile, while 'wallet' IS working in el capitan, i guess i want to be 'future proof'... (altho copying all the data from wallet to, say, 1password, seems daunting...)

I think you would have to set aside some time in your day and just copy all of your data over to 1Password.

Once you have done it you will definetly agree that it is worth it - 1Password is great and it won't be going anywhere anytime soon!

Honestly, Wallet has not been updated for years now. The developer is effectively defunct (takeover by Facebook). You are storing some sensitive data with that software, wouldn't you want to make sure that the app is regularly updated or that the developer shows a sign of good care? Security is of utmost importance. Also, it is probably better to entrust your data to developers who have extensive experience with data security. Acrylic Software doesn't exactly disclose their expertise in this field.

1Password works and looks a lot like Wallet, but has been developed further. Third-party apps on iOS are integrated with it (pretty unique for iOS actually) and can be used in Safari as well. I think it is the most feature-rich password manager for Apple systems. Also, I haven't paid anything for years since I bought 1Password for Mac when it first appeared on the Mac App Store (with a discount nonetheless) and since I bought the universal app for iOS (also a discount). It has paid off immensely over the years. The only problem is the relatively steep purchase price, so it ultimately depends on what you are willing to pay for a good password manager. You might also want to wait til the next discount, they do have them regularly.

so...purchase 1password tonite, and spent 3 hours (!) manually moving passwords to the new app (a great chance to clean things out, and not copy over unused or removed data). then synced to my iphone. very nice, thanx all for the recommendation!
