Hi,

This maybe a stupid question so forgive me but, how do password managers such as 1Password work? I mean I know that they store your passwords and can create one's for you but, once you have done this how do you access the different apps?

For example, if I create a new password for Amazon and store it in a password manager, how do I then access Amazon? Do I have to go through the password manager every time I want to use Amazon? I mean, now, I just press the Amazon app on my iPhone. It's dead easy. Having to access through the password manager every time would be a pain.

I just don't get how you are supposed to use password managers? Please help!

I use bitwarden, which being a recognised password manager is correctly listed on my phone under:

Settings / Passwords & Accounts / Autofill Passwords / Allow Filling From

I started using this as I moved from Safari to Firefox on my laptop and Firefox can't access keychain.

Once you save your username and password in a password manager app such as 1Password, you open the app to sign in. There is a key at the bottom of the screen that you click, and it then asks do you want to use your password manager or iCloud Keychain (which is where you can also save usernames and passwords) to fill in your password.
