I'd like to password protect a folder containing financial info to add just another layer of security to my MBP. It is a large folder with lots of files, tons of .PDFs, screenshots, etc. What is the best way of doing this? I think I made a password protected .DMG many years ago, is this still the only way of doing this?

Thanks.

You don't password protect a folder, you change it into an password protected (encrypted) diskimage with disk utility.

It is still the only way that OS X supports out of the box. You can use third-party solutions, of course. Instead of a DMG, you might want to consider a sparse bundle that can increase in size as you go.
