Paste and go in Safari!

I've found a new, super nifty feature in Safari. With URL in clipboard, tap and hold on Safari search box. A new "paste and go" popup shows up, allowing you to save many taps.

If you don't have an URL in clipboard, this will change to Paste and search instead, searching for whatever is in your clipboard.

This is something that is actually handy. I just tried it and I think I am going to like it. Gotta love iOS 9 beta! Can't wait until the GM finally comes out.

You can also hold down on the refresh icon to bring up the option to reload a webpage in desktop mode. Very clever, if wet-hidden as well.

While I appreciate all these features, tucking them away so neatly means that many people are not going to realise they are there until someone points it out to them. Which seems to run a bit counter to ios's claim of being more intuitive and easier to use.

I mean, it was only last week that I realised I could hold down on a shipment tracking number to track it in a website. On googling, I realised the feature has been there since 2012, but I only just found out, 3 years later. If I had not held down on it while trying to select it, I may never have known.

I agree that a lot of things are somewhat hidden and that a lot of people don't even know the half of what iOS is capable of. But I do see why and I prefer it. If everything was out in the open and obvious, there would be buttons and all sorts of things just bloating up the UI's making them all a cluttered mess. They are going for clean and simple. Hiding things behind long presses and soon to be force touch keeps it clean.

Googling if something is possible in iOS is easier than having a cluttered UI and not being able to clean it up.

I didn't know about the paste and go in one long press until this thread (I always did a normal paste that tapped go.) I find fun and pretty cool when you come across something just like this you never knew about. It's the discovery that makes it fun.

There is also an option to reload the website without content blockers enabled, if you are using a content blocker.

Noticed that too, as I am currently helping to test out the crystal ad-blocker. Haven't found a compelling reason to disable Adblock for any website though.
