I am seeing posts from Paul from Simplify Media. It would be best to keep all posts in this thread so Paul can address and not have to search all the other threads. Paul this is a killer app as I know all on here will agree. For now my Simplify Media is running perfectly.

when you add songs to the folder do you have to reset or does the program automatically pick up the new songs?

Don't get me wrong, this is a bad idea. Paul is already answering support requests through the support at simpliflymedia dot com email. I wouldn't suggest he doesn't want this, but developing the application, reading support emails and checking here and answering requests etc., might be an arduous task.

And, the program should automatically initialize the database upon startup I believe. If it does not, refresh the database (doesn't take too long).
EDIT: Although, it was a good idea than having to find xxxx amount of threads.

The title to your post makes no sense. Are u inviting him "into the house", or telling everyone that's he's here, or using the post to indicate that it is actually him starting the thread. I don't think he would title a thread like u did even if he was a member of the forums.

Please be more considerate with your posts.

I am telling everyone he is in these forums posting, I thought it would be easier if anyone had questions to post here, thats all. My thought was that if people see answers to problems here it would cut down on his email as I know many have the same questions. Just trying to help....

Like I said, I fully understand what you meant to do although I think the official way would probably be easier.. because it's official. :)

guys, thanks for everything. we really appreciate all of the help you've been giving us. a couple things:

1) Simplify Media is much more than me, and I am certainly the least important part of the team right now.

2) while I work on getting more info on our site, here are answers to a few questions we are getting often

does my computer have to be on - yes

I'm stuck at scanning/updating/connection - if you can't see your reflection under shared in itunes, you aren't connected. something is blocking us. there is some software we have conflicts with (mostly on the PC), but send us a Report Issue

constant buffering / can't connect on iPhone - first, make sure the server computer is on. second, if you could try from serveral networks (if you are on WiFi try cell, if you are on the LAN try WAN). anything to give us more info would be appreciated

where are all my songs - this one is long but almost always resolved

This is usually a timing issue. It can take a while to scan and index all your songs the first time, especially with a large library or an external drive. Also, we only load playlists after all the songs in your library on that computer have been indexed and the file list transferred.

If you look at your computer's own Simplify Media reflection under Shared in iTunes, are more songs showing up every few minutes? If so, the indexing process is still underway and your playlists should eventually appear. Your reflection is a view of what remote computers see, so once Simplify Media is running for a little while on a remote computer or iPhone, this same list will appear.

Note: once we've indexed the songs once, we cache the list, so it should come up much faster in the future. Reset starts the scan all over, so it is not recommended for this problem.

If the index process seems stuck, and the file count hasn't increased for at least 10 minutes, is it possible that the missing songs are in an unsupported format? FLAC and videos are not support at this time. We cannot play iTunes purchased songs on the iPhone, so we filter those out. We only show iTunes purchased songs under Shared in iTunes if you are logged in with the same Simplify Media screen name on both computers.

Finally, if the above doesn't explain why you aren't seeing all of your music, you might want to try to change your sharing setting. It is possible we aren't able to read the latest version of your music library file or access some folders. In Simplify Media, go to Options/Preference and select the Sharing tab. This will restart the search for music, and hopefully it will find all of your songs.

no suprise, we are swamped andbeyond tired -- but this is really fun

EvenLugh - out of consideration for him, how about going back and edit your post to at least attempt to disguise the exact email address. It will save him from the bots that scavenge email address for spam.

Something like joe (at) somedomain (dot) com is at least somewhat better.

Just curious, have you gotten the record label's blessing on this? It seems like every app like this ends up getting shut down in the end because of the royalty costs or licensing disputes. But who knows, I hope this can stay up forever because I've been dieing for an app like this for years, and it works great with my iphone and also with my computer at work so I can enjoy all my music! YAY!
