With an unlocked iphone is there any way to get data to work while using pay and go?

yes

I think you mean Pay As You Go and the answer is yes, but it's not unlimited data. AT&T offers 1 MB for $5 and 100 MB for $20. You order it either through 611 or online and it lasts for 30 days. The good thing is that if you refill before the 30 days are up, you can carry over any unused data.

It only works if you don't use alot of data as 100MB isn't a whole lot. if you just check email and do some occasional surfing then it's fine. Once your data is used up you'll get charged lots! $.01/kb which is $10/MB.

You can use either the Pick a plan or the Pay as You Go plans with an iPhone.

I have heard though that AT&T is now restricting which phone you can use with any Pay As You Go plan for about six months. That means that sim will only work in the phone you activate it with for six months or whatever the amount of time is.

I've been using my 3G iPhone on a Pick a Plan since June. I also have the unlimited $19.99 data plan but AT&T sent me a text saying I could sign up for it. I did and I have unlimited data on my 3G now. Not sure why AT&T sent me the text saying I could get it yet when other people tried to get the unlimited data who didn't get the text, AT&T told them they weren't offering it.
