Searched up on a website that said if you buy a pay as you go phone with data plan you could set up the SIM card on the cheap pay as you go phone then once everything is set up you could put the SIM card into the iPhone?
anyone knows if this would work or not?

I had the monthly plan set up with internet, and one day I coudn't get on the web. I called, and they said that b/c it's the 3G, no pre pay internet with that. I explained that I mostly used it for email, and very occasional browsing(had the max mb for $20, had only used mabe 15-20mb), and he said that the Iphone burns so much mb, that I would go over, so they shut it down and credited my account. I pleaded and Pleaded, but all was told to me was to put the sim in my iPhone 2G, and it would work, It did,but it' not the same.

What country are you from and where did you buy the phone? In my country you can use prepaid SIM cards without problems but I believe that the US models are much more restricted.

I'm on Rogers prepaid in Canada with a Samsung j706. If I manage to grab an iPhone off Craigslist, can I just pop in the SIM and have it work instantly?

Is there a way to disable 3G to keep the costs down?

Thanks

What about AT&t? Do you just need an unlocked iPhone for it to work?

At the end of the year I might consider doing that because I don't use my phone a lot anyways.

im thinking not using an interenet site for service but just buy a at&t pay as you go phone from walmart set it up and then hook it onto the iphone and see what happens... :p

yeah good luck with that...

I'm pretty sure that wont work, they can tell what phone your using, at least I know for a fact T-mobile can (I'm sure At&t can too)
