Hi guys.

Im going to be buying the new iPhone from the Apple Store once it becomes available to pre order, but have a question regarding Apple Pay.

Has anyone used MasterCard via Apple Pay to pay for an iPhone bought on the Apple online store?

The reason ive added my MasterCard to Apple Pay is because Apple doesn't let me set 2 payment options on my account, and id rather leave my Visa card to pay for my iTunes/Apple Music/App purchases.

I will be buying the phone from the UK.

Thanks.

I’ve used MasterCard many times with Apple Pay. I don’t think there’s any limit as such on Apple Pay if you’re buying from the site or within the app itself.

Thanks for the reply.

Thats good to know. Ive used my MasterCard via Apple Pay so it all works, was just worried about any limits at time of checkout but it seems like I should be ok.

Thanks.

I remeber a lot of people used Apple Pay when the iPhone 7 was launched and there were no issues. Sometimes a bank might query a transaction but it was sorted quickly and didn’t effect their pre order date. This happened to people that used both Apple Pay and normal credit or debit cards to pay.

I would call the credit card company a day before and warn them about the large amount to make sure they do not reject.
Good advice. Happened to me when I preordered my iPhone 7 Plus. However I was checking my order page regularly so I saw the issue. I was about to call my bank but they sent me a text to verify that it was a legitimate transaction. All I had to do was reply to the text in the affirmative and my order status updated within 15 minutes. My 7 plus still arrived on launch day.

I usually buy expensive items in store so they might have been curious as to why I was doing it online.

Yep, my Well Fargo will send me a text that gives me an opportunity to stop a transaction. It is a good feature for both user and bank.

I paid for my 7 Plus in my local Apple Store, using Apple Pay on my Apple Watch.

No problems at all.
