What are people actually still doing that needs wired data transfer? It’s been years since I last did any sort of sync using a cord.
You realize how long it takes to upload a 100GB 4K video and transfer it wirelessly?

Well, I have gigabit up and down wireless at home, so probably not as long as some.

I guess I don’t upload files manually. Really, ever. I let the cloud do it.

But I get your point.

"The 12.9-inch iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation) and 10.5-inch iPad Pro transfer data at USB 3 speeds, using the lightning connector just before they transitioned to usb C
while the 9.7-inch iPad Pro uses USB 2."

We (those who are interested) won’t know until the phone is bench tested with the Cable it comes with.

Oh, if that's true then that's not good. Since they're keeping lightning for another year, the least they could do is give us USB 3.0 speeds.

I moved my video workflow to iPhone with a 1TB model. I don't shoot Pro Res but I do HEVC 4K @ 60FPS and when I'm out all day I can either wait overnight for my iPhone to upload to iCloud or plug in and wait an hour. USB-C would be amazing. AirDrop isn't reliable for me using massive video files.

That makes sense for people who do post processing. Us amateurs don’t really run into this issue.

Understood, just wanted to give you an example. Apple added HDR, ProRes and modes like Action and Cinematic with support for line-in via Lightning and yet limit you to USB2 to get data off the device. It's pretty problematic especially when the product videos show production crews shooting with iPhones when all I can think of is that poor intern with 20 iPhones sitting in a tray all connected to a dock waiting for videos to transfer.

You guys have made your case. I get it.

Thanks

I like my iPhone and my iPad; I have to use two different charging cables and it is 2022. Thank you, Apple!

It’s like apple intentionally wants to make ppl that actually use their equipment for WORK hate using their devices. Their lack of true automation like macrodroid or tasker is another massive flaw in their product.
