I installed the PB4 from Yosemite, was hoping it would install the latest one right away, but it started from the PB1 and had to update from that all the way to the 4.

However, after using it a bit, and trying to use some of the new features while looking at YouTube videos "hands on," I noticed that some things looked or worked differently on my Mac compared from the videos.

For example my Spotlight window is white like it was in Yosemite, isn't it supposed to be black? and it doesn't find anything new like weather, nor anything else, and I'm in the UK, which should be one of those countries where it works.
Also, I can't find any way to open new tabs in Mail, like there's no way to open tabs.
I wonder if there are other new functionalities I'm missing, but those are examples of reasons I decided to try the beta for, and they're just not there.

I surely have the latest Public Beta though. Anyone has any idea why this could be happening? Thanks!

You need to choose dark mode in System Preferences > General to make spotlight, dock and menu bar dark. By the way dark mode is available in Yosemite as well.

I'm not sure whether the new spotlight features are complete and full functioning yet - someone else might be able to chime in?

I think tab feature in mail may be in fullscreen mode only?? If you open an email or start writing an email in fullscreen mode and then minimise it.... it forms a tab at the bottom on the mail app.

Hope that helps.

Ah thank you! however, the tabs in email still don't work.

Unfortunately it isn't really tabs in mail like you would find in Safari etc. It only allows 1 'tab' / minimised window and only in fullscreen mode. If the mail app is in fullscreen mode and you open an email or write a new email and then minimise that email, the minimised window will form a single tab at the bottom of the main fullscreen mail app window.

What? No way, there's also a "safari like" tab feature, I saw in the MacRumors video of the new features after the WWDC, where you can just have multiple emails you are writing, in tabs. :)

I didn't see that. Are you able to direct me to where I could see this?
If that is the case, then maybe it has not been implemented yet.

I see what you mean - the video shows normal tabs in mail as opposed to the single tab at the bottom when minimising an email in fullscreen.

I got tabs working. When in fullscreen mail, open a new blank email and press command + N to open a new tab. I feel it should be Command + T (the same as safari & finder) but Command + T is already taken in mail to open 'fonts' and I suppose the N is short for new message.

It would be good if tabs was extended to viewing emails and not just writing emails.
