So I have accessories for a 15" Powerbook and am getting a 15" MBP. Are they the exact same size so that I can use the same case and such? I was thinking it may be different due to the camera and IR stuff. Thanks in advance, guys.

Just compare the dimensions!

I think that the LCD is slightly thinner, and the case is slightly wider.

However, that is just a guess. You can find out for sure by comparing the dimensions (found at apple.com for the MacBook Pro or Google for the PowerBook 15")!

Glad to help,

The whole computer is slightly thinner and wider. I have an incase sleeve that I used with my PBG4... although I can fit my MBP in it, it is a little tight. You will just have to wait and see if what you have has enough room for the MBP. It may or may not.

Apple History states these sizes:

PB 15": Dimensions: 1.1" H x 13.7" W x 9.5" D
PB 15" DL SD: Dimensions: 1.1" H x 13.7" W x 9.5" D
MBP 15": Dimensions: 1.0" H x 14.1" W x 9.6" D

So I'm guessing that the 14.1" would kill you, just to put a number on what others have said.

I have both a 15" Santa Rosa MBP and a 15" G4 Powerbook (1.67). They are quite different shapes.

The MBP is thinner and it is also a bit wider. I found that fabric sleeves for my G4 worked OK, but you may have trouble with harder cases that rely on the exact shape.

I much prefer the shape of the MBPs ... they feel like much sleeker machines, and more like the 1" thick miracles of engineering we were originally promised with the G4 AlBooks :)

Thanks guys. I have a cloth/quilt case, so I think I should be alright. Good info to have for everyone else, too. To compensate for that extra 0.1" depth I may be able to pack in something, but I'll find out :)
