Hello!

Recently I bought Europa Universalis III for Windows, to play on my MacBook. I have partitioned my hard drive for Windows XP. My specs are: 2,4 GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel GMA X3100 graphics card.

The problem is that when the intro has started, it is choppy. About halfway in the intro it just crashes out to desktop. I am way above game requirements, so why does the game not start properly?

Or more generally, do the requirements change on the PC version, compared to the Mac version?

Help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

According to Wikipedia...

It needs a 128 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card

the Macbook has an integrated video card, so that might be why.

Okey, though, I've heard one person here on Macrumors say that this game runs smoothly on his MacBook. Are you sure that DirectX 9.0c is not reachable with my computer?

Thank you!

What Windows OS are you running?

The thing is that DirectX is a Windows created API, and if you are not up to date on the OS, you might not have the version of DirectX that the game developers used.

I did find this off of the game developer's website:

1.9GHz Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon processor or equivalent with 512MB RAM
28MB Video Card with Hardware T&L and support for Pixelshader 2.0 or better

Intel is not following the Pentium 4 line, and is not similar to AMD Athlon. You might be out of luck unless you can find an emulator or someone who ported it. Also, the video card is not the issue, it's the drivers it needs.

Thank you for the answer!

I'm sorry, but I don't know what an API is! An explanation would be appreciated! :p

I have Windows XP Service pack 2. If this won't work, will it if I get the Mac version?

Just to let you know; I managed to make it work!!! :D I just did some upgrading on the XP and installed the latest patch for the game, and it works like a dream. Seems like I didn't run out of luck. :D

Thank you!
