Since my PC died
I'm using my macbook as a desktop replacement, so when i'm at my desk, i plug in an extra monitor, logitech G5 mouse and some generic PC (UK) keyboard.
I've finally got the mouse doing what i want, with a combination of tiger's built in expose shortcut options and SteerMouse
The remaining thing i'd like to solve is rearranging the modifier keys on my keyboard, and if I can get the multimedia keys to work then I'd be very pleased!
The ctrl, windows (cmd) and alt keys all work, but they're in a different order to the Apple keyboard, and also not all present on the right side. I'd like to map :
alt to cmd,
windows to alt,
ctrl to ctrl (still)
i also have the 'right click' button, which currently doesn't do anything... it might be nice to make it useful.
Now I know most of that is possible from the system preferences pane, but then my laptop keyboard will be affected. I don't want to have to switch everytime i leave/enter my desk.
The two solutions i can think of are:
1. remap the external keyboard some how
2. use a location manager to detect that when an external keyboard is plugged in, to remap the keys (but i can't remember where to find such a program)
any ideas?!
Cheers,
Fred
(PS: it's a macbook running tiger, and the keyboard is a Hiper black aluminium USB keyboard, with pretty purple LEDs)
