Sorry if I'm in the wrong place or if this has been asked before. I have a DVD player I want to setup to watch using a computer monitor (Samsung b730) as a display. Is this possible using a VGA to RCA or DVI to RCA straight in to the DVD player? I have an adapter on order, but just wondering if this will work or will I have a coding issue.

Thanks

Can anyone help? My big screen is failing and I want to set up a monitor beside it to control Apple TV, as well as another project I want to try, using an old pc monitor to watch DVDs on a DVD player.

Thanks

Does your player have an HDMI output? That should work with a simple HDMI-DVI adapter. If RCA (whether yellow or red/green/blue) is the only output, you will need a transcoder, not a simple wire adapter. Not sure what you have on order.

You need to think of it in the correct direction. It is DVDp-to-monitor, not the other way around. If you do need a transcoder, it is RCA-VGA or RCA-DVI, not the other way around. This matters.

Transcoders are much cheaper these days, but are still more than a simple adapter.

JAT, no HDMI on this player. My first project here is actually in a van. I have a Pioneer DVD player head unit and I'm trying to run a monitor to the back for kids to watch movies. I realize I may be looking for info in the wrong place, but I had no idea where else to ask.
My second project is to mirror my big screen tv on a small monitor beside it since the screen is starting to fail. I want to do this so I can use it just when I need to set up Apple TV or Wii without using the big screen.

Thanks

There are car/mobile screen solutions that have covered both video connection and electric needs for in a vehicle. If you are trying to use a home monitor in a van, the electric will be the more difficult adaptation. I would shop for vehicle models first. But if necessary, the below link would probably work, too. If you can get the electric figured out.

Should be easy to find a converter for your TV area. You need to match up the output of your player with the input of the monitor, and get the proper transcoder. This link might be the right one for you.
