Okay I have been a PC user all my life with Windows, But I have used several Mac's in my life and I love them 100x more. I am going to save up for the second cheapest iMac right now (the 21.5 with 1 terabyte hard drive).

Several question arise.
Is there a word processing program for the mac like Microsoft Word so I can do my English and other essay assignments.
If not then do you guys Boot Camp and run Windows and how does that work
exactly?

Also how do you setup a wireless internet and router on the iMac when first getting it out of the box is it easy? We have a D-link router right now and this will work with Mac's right? I dont need to like get an airport express card or some apple router do I.

I know I sound retarded but I just wanna know how simple or hard it will be to setup out of box seeing as my family is all pc and windows users.
Thanks help is appreciated
Oh and do the newest iMac's use USB3.0?

There is Office for Mac from Microsoft that includes Word etc. The new 2011 version is VERY similar to Office 2010 for PC. iWork can also save documents in Windows format.

I'm using D-Link router and it works fine. No tricks needed

All Macs come with USB 2.0

There is MS Office (including MS Word) for Mac OS X: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.mspx

Macs work with almost any wireless router out there and are easier to setup with the WPA2/WEP password for your W-LAN. Just choose your W-LAN from the AirPort icon in the Menu bar, select your network and enter your password. Done.

No current iMac uses USB 3.0 as Intel has not implemented it in their chipsets, it is rumoured to come in 2011/2012.

Also have a look at the following links to learn more about Mac OS X:

Yeah I have a secrued WPLAN wireless network setup with name and password. So i guess that shows up automatically and I just select it and put password in. Like how easy are they to set up out of the box.

1. You can use Word for Mac as others have stated, or if you want to give a free alterative a try, you can download NeoOffice for free. It will create .doc files.

2. Wireless set-up is no problem. You just have to use the system preference panel to set it up. It is very easy. In fact, I think it may walk you through the process when you first set up the system, but it has been a while since I have set one up.

3. As of right now, no USB 3.0.

One thing to keep in mind is that you will have a 1 year warrenty that includes tech support. If you run into any trouble setting the Imac up, just give them a call. I promise you will speak to some one here in the united states, and if they can help my 70 year old Dad with his Imac, then they can help anyone.

So basically people dont boot camp anymore? Sorry idk how that works

So does open office work pretty good?
Here is a question does torrenting and stuff work on Macs or not like if I want free movies or software?

OP, setting up a wireless connection isnt any different than a pc.
If you have your router secured by mac address then that has to be entered into the router first.
Then in the upper right hand corner click the wifi signal symbol and open network preferences.
