Hey guys, real quick question here. Will DDR2 533MHz RAM works in Mac Pro? I found DDR2 533 PC2-4200P for a very good price and was wondering if it will work in my Mac Pro 3,1 (2008). It requires DDR2 800MHz but ive tested DDR2 667MHz and it works perfectly fine but thats because Early 2006 Mac Pro uses that. And if it does, how much slower is 533MHz RAM comparing to 800MHz?

No, you can only use FB-DIMM DDR2 ECC 667/800 MHz modules on mac pro 2006/7/8. There is also a physical difference between them

They ARE FB-DIMMS. ECC FB-DIMMS

It will only work if it is FB-DIMMs.

Yeah, they are FB-DIMMS. but the speed are slower, those are generally for PowerMac G5s. They are still 533MHz FB-DIMM 32GB. ECC.

You can use 667MHz FB-DIMMs in Mac Pro 2008, but 533MHz, i don't think so.
One more thing, get RAM with Apple approved heatsinks, especially for 800MHz modules.
