Is it possible to use PC8500 RAM in the 5.1 12-core machines instead of PC10600?

What problems can occur other then slower speed?

What about 4.1 upgraded to 5.1 with 6-core processors, will it work good with 8500 RAM?

The ram sticks work fine in the machine, but i have only testet for short period. Dont want problems coming down the road since the macine is for another user.

PC8500=1066Mhz
PC10600=1333Mhz

EDIT:
This page states it works, but that Apple dows not support it. What Apple supports or not doesnt matter to me. Just what works or not.

So if you know that there can be negative experience from this combination, please take your time to post about it.

Yeah, i read that its not even possible to measure the difference.

But i heard someone tell me that it might be problems further down the road. But dont know anyone who tried it.

So if anyone has experience, positive or negative, of running 8500 RAM in last generation of 6-core or 12-core machines i would be very happy to share this info.

I've never encountered a problem running slower ram, nothing that I could even detect. Even running different speeds (and the whole setup dropping to the 8500) it's still not noticeable. RAM is already very fast so other components would be a bottleneck before ram speed becomes an issue.
