PCI-E SSD Problem - Mac Pro 4,1 8core

I have just received Samsung 850 Pro 256SSD & SEDNA PCI-E Card (the links are bellow)

I installed the SSD on to the SEDNA PCI-E card and my mac does not recognise a new Storage Drive. Neither Disk Utility nor System Report recognises the SSD.

The SEDNA PCI-E card on the product spec it says,

Operating System Software can be installed on mounted SSD and booting of the OS from the installed PCIE disk is supported ( Your mother board BIOS need to support this feature )

Does anyone have a solution for my problem? I need of course an PCI-E card to hook an SSD since my mac has no Sata3 connection. Maybe the problem is simply that this PCI-E card is not supported with Mac OS?

Probably ask the seller if they can provide a driver for Mac OSX. The product description at the listing mentioned the card supports Mac OSX but did not specify which OS if it's ML , Mavericks. Also check the CD installer that came with the product for drivers.

I have contacted the seller for a driver. The product description does say Mac OS but on their official website they have no Support & Drivers page. Also, the cd included with the product has only drivers for Windows.

Another question, on the system requirement it mentions SATA Power connector to be connected to the adapter. Does this mean I need to plug a SATA power cable from motherboard to PCI-E card?

No, the spare connectors is for additionally SSD. I guess the card work just like med Velocity x2...

Check if the card is visible in System Profiler/PCI cards. Post screenshot if so (click on card on the list to show more details and post screenshot with them).

On PCI card on Profiler is says There was an error while gathering PCI card information.

So you have non-EFI GPU... But you can still check SAS/SATA part in ASP. Is your controller listed here?

Yes my GPU is non-EFI. I attached the screenshot of the SATA page

So card is detected and running, but not the SSD. Look what I found in comments on Amazon:

Great but remember you need a SATA power cable

Works great and is a great price but no documentation in the box saying that you need to provide SATA power to tha card.

You will need a Male to Female SATA power cable plugged into this and they you will be up and running. There are alternatives that take power from the PCIe port but for the price of this, an extra £2 for a cable isnt too bad.

Yeah, I saw that too. If the OP can return the card and get an Apricorn X2 I think he/she will be happier. This card appears to be a 1 Lane (X1) so it will be slower than the Apricorn Velocity Solo X2 or Duo X2 cards.

For an "On The Cheap" card, the Solo X1 is only $10 more than the one that's having issues.

I just ordered the X2. To begin with, I had plans to buy the X2 in the first place but thought why spend 90$ when I can spend much less for a small simple card? In the end, it always comes to trusted companies.

Good to know your going with the X2. The Sedna card did not have any user reviews so there that risk even though it was cheaper but untested.
